Olympic snowboard cross champion Michela Moioli signed off before Beijing 2022 in style, winning the women's World Cup contest on home snow at Cortina d'Ampezzo.

Moioli was in second place for the vast majority of the final, but an aggressive line on the penultimate corner saw her edge ahead of Chloé Trespeuch and pip the French athlete to the line.

World champion Charlotte Bankes was third, with the Briton on the wrong end of a photo finish.

The Austrian Pia Zerkhold was fourth.

Moioli is due to be Italy's flagbearer at the Beijing 2022 Opening Ceremony, replacing the injured Sofia Goggia, and was in impressive form at the final World Cup contest before the Winter Olympics.

The Italian won her semi-final and quarter-final, having been the second-fastest qualifier behind only Bankes.

The men's event went to form as Martin Nörl won his third World Cup race on the spin.

Germany's Nörl emerged from the first roller section with the lead and would not relinquish it, despite the best efforts of Austrian Alessandro Hämmerle.

The reigning World Cup champion had to settle for second place, with Australia's Cameron Bolton third and Lorenzo Sommariva of the host nation fourth.

Nörl now has a 20-point lead over Hämmerle in the season standings, while Bankes remains the women's leader, with second-placed Trespeuch 79 points behind and Moioli an additional 14 back.
