South Africa defeated Nigeria 7-0 in the first of the last-four encounters, with Matthew Guise-Brown scoring a hat-trick of goals from penalty corners.

South Africa scored five of their goals in the second period, with two from Guise-Brown, plus further strikes from Nqobile Ntuli, Richard Pautz and Ignatius Malgraff from field goals.

In the third period Daniel Bell netted from a penalty corner before Guise-Brown rounded off the rout late on as he completed his hat-trick.

The second semi-final also saw Egypt overpower Kenya as they ran out 5-1 winners, with Mostafa Ragab scoring two field goals.

Mohamed Nasr opened the scoring for Egypt in the seventh minute with a penalty corner, before Ragab’s brace extended their advantage to 3-0 at the break.

Mohamed Adel added a fourth in the third period from a penalty corner, before a field goal from Ahmed Elnaggar extended the lead to 5-0.

Kenyan captain Constant Wakhura gave his side something to cheer late on when he netted a consolation.

The day’s other men’s match was the fifth and sixth place classification game, which saw hosts Ghana defeat Uganda 6-1.

Richard Adjei and Francis Tettey both netted braces for Ghana during the comfortable win that secured fifth.

No matches were played in the women’s competition today, with the final and the remaining classification fixtures scheduled for tomorrow.

South Africa have the chance to win both the men’s and women’s competitions, as they will face hosts Ghana in the women’s final, before their men’s team will take on Egypt in the men’s final.
