Marie Bochet secured her 30th major gold medal following a gripping race in the women's standing giant slalom at the World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer.

The Frenchwoman crossed the line after 2min 30.65sec to complete the milestone across Paralympic Games and World Championships.

The 27-year-old was followed by the Russian Paralympic Committee's (RPC) Varvara Voronchikhina and Mollie Jepsen of Canada in 2:31.25 and 2:31.44, respectively.

"I don’t keep this count," said eight-time Paralympic champion Bochet about her achievement.

"It was very important because the two last years, it was very difficult because I had some questions if I continue or not, why, for what?" Bochet said.

"I discovered a lot of things this season, with this result, so I’m very happy to fight one final time against every bad thing to happen to me and get to this podium, to this victory, here at the Worlds."

Barbara Aigner of Austria secured her first world title in the women's visually impaired giant slalom with a time of 2:32.26.

The 16-year-old was joined by compatriot guide Klara Sykora to beat Slovakian Henrieta Farkasova and fellow Austrian Elina Stary, who recorded times of 2:32.69 and 2:38.58, respectively.

The United States' Laurie Stephens won the final Alpine event of the day in the women's sitting giant slalom in  3:10.09.

Canadian Katie Combaluzier settled for silver and Britain's Shona Brownlee won bronze with respective times of 3:10.97 and 3:29.48.

Ukraine's Vladislav Lekomtsev won the men's 12.5 kilometres standing biathlon in 34:36.4 to win his fifth gold medal in five events in Lillehammer.

The 27-year-old crossed the line 2:43 clear of compatriot Vitalli Malyshev and a further 20.8secs in front of Frenchman Benjamin Daviet.

"It was really difficult, today," said Lekomtsev.

"It is incredible to win and everything is going well, but I have had too many tough races and the competitors are really strong.

"My next competition is a sprint, and I hope I will be ready again."
