Members of Guam's team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have attended a celebration event hosted by the Japan Consul-General Toshiaki Kobayashi.

The Guam delegation from Tokyo 2020, including five athletes, discussed their experience at the postponed Games with Kobayashi.

According to the Guam National Olympic Committee (GNOC), the Consul-General thanked the athletes for competing at Tokyo 2020.

He also "noted the resiliency of all athletes as they embarked on a journey that was never experienced through the postponement of the Games due to the COVID-19 pandemic", the GNOC said.

Future dialogue between the GNOC and the Consul-General and upcoming editions of the Olympics were among the other topics discussed.

GNOC President Ricardo Blas, who is also the secretary general of the Oceania National Olympic Committees, presented Kobayashi with a token of appreciation for his warm hospitality during the event.

Guam has competed in eight Summer and one Winter Olympics. 

It has never won a medal.
