He avenged a 22^nd place finish last week in Klingenthal with an overall score of 287.4 from jumps of 137 and 140 metres in Switzerland.

Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, who won on Sunday (December 12), had to settle for silver after being awarded 286.6 points for his 137.5m and 140.5 efforts.

Timi Zajc then followed behind on 282.6 points to claim the bronze medal.

The Slovenian posted jumps of 139m and 137m in the large hill competition.

Kobayashi has 396 points in the season standings, 118 behind Geiger while Austria's Stefan Kraft currently occupies third place on 340 points.

Geiger had to jump against strong winds which hindered his results, but he received compensation in the form of points from the scoring system.

The 28-year-old was awarded CHF10,000 (£8,167/$10,819/€9,627) for his victory which now takes his season total to CHF59,650 (£48,720/$64,537/€57,441).

Despite finishing in second, Kobayashi was awarded CHF11,000 (£8,984/$11,901/€10,592) as he finished top of the qualifying stage.

Athletes will remain in Engelberg as the Swiss town is staging the ninth leg of the season tomorrow with another individual large hill contest.
