A four-resort Italian swing begins in the men's Alpine Ski World Cup tomorrow, with a super-G contest scheduled in Val Gardena.

It will be the third super-G race of the season, and presents Marco Odermatt with a good opportunity to extend his overall World Cup lead.

The Swiss skier finished first and second in the two super-G races so far this campaign.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is the other man to win a super-G race this season, and also won both contests in Val Gardena last season.

Kilde will be leading the Norwegian charge as Sochi 2014 super-G champion Kjetil Jansrud is out for the season through injury.

Austria's Vincent Kriechmayr, the super-G crystal globe winner last season, is yet to rediscover that form but is another athlete expected to compete for the race win.

Following tomorrow's super-G race, a downhill contest is scheduled on Saturday (December 18).

Kilde won both of those races at this resort last season, and also won a contest in each discipline in Beaver Creek in the United States earlier this month.

Odermatt has 446 points in the overall World Cup standings - 136 more than Austrian Matthias Mayer in second place - so will still hold the overall lead regardless of tomorrow's result.
