Ryōyū Kobayashi of Japan pulled off his second victory of the 2021-2022 International Ski Federation Ski Jumping World Cup season at the Vogtland Arena in Klingenthal.

The 25-year-old scored 262.8 points from his two jumps to take a confident victory in Germany.

Both of his attempts were the best in each round among the 49-strong field.

He has now earned CHF44,000 (£36,000/$47,700/€42,200) throughout the season.

After Kobayashi, five Norwegians occupied positions two to six.

Daniel Andre Tande's 260.2 was enough to see him earn a silver medal while Marius Lindvik secured bronze with 256.6 points.

Tande, amazingly, secured his first World Cup podium after recovering from a coma in March.

"It's hard to explain what this result means to me," said Tande.

"It's an amazing feeling.

"Moments like this are the reason why I'm still competing in this sport."

Despite the victory, Kobayashi is down in sixth in the overall standings with 216 points.

Karl Geiger currently sits in first with 405 points, 99 ahead of Austria's Stefan Kraft in second with 306.

Geiger's compatriot Markus Eisenbichler makes up the top three with 287 points.

Although Geiger has been producing sensational performances throughout the year, the four-time world champion only managed to place 22nd in Klingenthal.

Kraft also produced a lacklustre showing, posting 209.4 points to finish 26th.

Athletes are then due to travel to the Gross-Titlis-Schanze in Engelberg for the next event in the season on December 18.

It is set to be a double header in Switzerland with another separate competition scheduled for December 19.
