Ukraine and Germany made full use of the absence of China at the International Swimming Federation World Junior Diving Championships in Kyiv.

The host nation and Germany recorded identical medal tallies of five gold, one silver and three bronze at the event in the Ukranian capital.

Russia were third having claimed four gold, five silver and a bronze.

European champion Kseniia Bailo was among the star performers for Ukraine as she clinched two titles in the girls' 'B' age group for 15- to 16-year-olds.

Bailo topped the 3m springboard podium with a score of 390.15 points and won the 10m platform event with a score of 328.35.

Her compatriot Danylo Konovalov also left the championships with two gold medals, the first of which - in the 3m springboard boys' 'A' event - was shared with Brazil's Kawan Pereira.

Konovalov and Pereira could not be separated after scoring 532.60 for their respective routine.

The Ukrainian went on to seal the 10m platform title with Oleksiy Sereda after they earned 321.30 points.

Germany's Jette Müller was the top athlete for her country as she triumphed in the 1m and 3m springboard events.

Müller outclassed the rest of the field in the 1m event having scored 392.35 and also reigned supreme in the 3m competition on 438.90.

China have been the dominant nation at the World Junior Diving Championships but did not send a team to this year's event due to COVID-19.
