Ilgar Rahimov, the President of the Azerbaijan Paralympic Committee (ANPC), opened a judo club in Baku aimed at Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

ANPC vice-president Ilham Zakiyev and Azerbaijan Judo Federation vice-president Elnur Mammadli also attended the ceremony to unveil the venue.

Ramin Ibrahimov, who won judo gold at the London 2012 Paralympics and is the head coach of the Azerbaijani women's Para judo team, was praised at the ceremony.

The Azerbaijan national anthem was also played.

Attendees were then provided with a tour of the facilities, which will be used by Paralympians and Olympians alike.

Children, especially those with disabilities, will also be able to train at the club, called the "Baku Olympic and Paralympic Judo Club".

Ibrahimov, who has a visual impairment, won his Olympic title in the men's under-60 kilograms class.

He defeated China's Xiaodong Li to claim gold.

Azerbaijan dominated Para judo competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, winning six of the 13 gold medals on offer.
