Kampala will host the All-African Badminton Championships from tomorrow, with seven days of competition scheduled in the Ugandan capital.

The action will begin with the mixed team competition, which will run through to Sunday (October 24) at Lugogo Indoor Arena.

Individual competitions will then begin on Tuesday (October 26) before concluding on October 28.

Uganda's top ranked players, Gladys Mbabazi and Brian Kasirye, said they were looking forward to competing on home soil.

"Playing at home is different from playing away from home," said Mbabazi to Kawowo Sports

"We shall therefore maximise on this situation to play our hearts out in such a big tournament."

"This is a big honour for Uganda to host such a continental championship for the first time," said Simon Mugabi, the chief executive of the Uganda Badminton Association.

"We are 100 per cent ready having passed all the qualifications required by the Badminton Confederation of Africa and the world's body."
