Hosts Turkey suffered a resounding 3-0 defeat to Germany in Group A of the European Sitting Volleyball Championships in Kemer.

Alexander Schiffler's side asserted their dominance from the outset to pull off the 25-16, 25-13, 25-13 rout.

France met Serbia in the other match in the group.

Serbia inflicted a second defeat on their opponents to condemn them to the bottom of the table with a 25-8, 25-11, 25-12 final score.

Ukraine and The Netherlands set up a tantalising tie for the final match of Group B after recording 3-0 wins over Latvia and Italy respectively.

Bosnia and Herzegovina continued their charge towards a 10th title as they dispatched Poland 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 to claim sole occupancy of pole position in Group C.

Meanwhile, Hungary beat Georgia 25-19, 25-13, 26-24, suppressing a potential comeback.

Russia, who are looking to win their third consecutive championship, produced another comprehensive victory as they beat Croatia 25-14, 25-6, 25-7.


The win increases Russia's points ratio to 3.261, far superior to next best Bosnia and Herzegovina's 1.875.

Slovenia beat Czech Republic 3-1 in a high-scoring affair, as it ended, 25-13, 25-27, 25-22, 25-14.

Turkey endured further misery in the women's tournament as the team lost 3-0 to both Finland and Slovenia.

The two losses mean the hosts sit firmly at the bottom of Group A.

Germany claimed their second scalp of the tournament by beating Slovenia 22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-9 to remain the only undefeated team in the group.

Poland beat Croatia 3-1 before falling to Finland by the same scoreline.

In Group B, Russia's women are also looking to win three European Championships in a row and rode the challenge of Ukraine to finish 25-20, 25-17, 25-21.

The Netherlands were defeated 25-21, 25-15, 25-16 by Hungary as the country still searches for a win.
