Alberto Senigagliesi has been named the race director for speed events at the Audi International Skiing Federation (FIS) Women's World Cup Tour.

Senigagliesi will replace Frenchman Jean-Philippe Vuillet, who will retire at the end of this season but is to focus on a smooth transition before Senigagliesi takes over from May 1 2022.

Working at the French Skiing Federation since 2017, first as the head coach of the women's speed team and then as the sport director for the women's team since 2018, Senigagliesi also has experience with the United States and Italy.

The Italian was the women's speed team head coach in the US from 2015 to 2017, before which he worked in the same role but with the Italian men's team from 2012.

He competed at the Albertville 1992 Winter Olympics and was a member of the Italian national team, competing in the slalom, downhill and super-G disciplines between 1990 and 1999.

"I am very excited to begin my work with the FIS team," said Senigagliesi.

"I know the entire team very well and think my background both as an athlete and coach will help us to continue to create challenging, yet safe, courses for the elite women’s speed skiers.

"I also want to thank the French Ski Federations for the great experience over the past five years and still looking forward to one more exciting season with the team."
