Deputy Premier Steven Miles will serve as the Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics Infrastructure.

Sport and Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe becomes Minister Assisting the Premier on Olympics and Paralympics Sport and Engagement, while Treasurer Cameron Dick takes the title of Minister for Trade and Investment.

The Premier said these were "small but necessary next steps" as Queensland counts down to the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.

"Hosting the 2032 Games will generate AUD8 billion ($5.8 billion/£4.2 billion/€5 billion) in economic and social benefits, in addition to 91,600 jobs," Palaszczuk wrote on social media.

"It is the catalyst for the biggest infrastructure program our state has ever seen with all levels of government co-operating to deliver projects on time."

Legislation to provide for the body responsible for delivering Games projects is expected to come before the Queensland Parliament this month.

The appointments come as Brisbane prepares to host a homecoming event for Olympic and Paralympic athletes in the city's King George Square tomorrow.

Brisbane was confirmed as the 2032 Games host at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Tokyo on July 21.

It was the sole candidate presented to the Session, having already been approved by the IOC Executive Board.

This represented the first time that Olympic hosting rights have been awarded under the new system, whereby a traditional bid race has been replaced by the IOC Future Host Commission identifying and proposing hosts to the Executive Board.
