Michal Krčmář and Markéta Davidová delivered double gold for Czech Republic at the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Summer Biathlon World Championships in Nové Město na Moravě.

Davidová gave the home fans something to cheer when she outsprinted Ukraine's Yulia Dzhima after a thrilling last loop battle to claim the women's 7.5-kilometre pursuit titles.

The Czech had five penalties in her victory, earned in 20min 57.3sec.

Dzhima only committed one penalty and crossed the line 0.8 seconds behind the leader to win the silver medal.

The Russian Biathlon Union's (RBU) Tamara Derbusheva was perfect with the rifle and crossed the line 8.4 seconds after Davidová to take bronze.

Following Davidová's stirring victory, Krčmář emulated his compatriot's success by taking the men's 10km pursuit gold medal.

Krčmář was brilliant from the shooting range and only had a single penalty in his runaway 27:01.5 win.

Frenchman Florent Claude overcame his four penalties with a blistering final loop to take the silver medal.

However, he was still 15.7 seconds behind Krčmář as the Czech was untouchable.

RBU's Yaroslav Kostukov ensured the neutral team claimed another bronze medal, but was agonisingly close to Claude, after he finished 15.9 seconds off the victor.

There was more success for the RBU in the junior women's 7.5km pursuit as Anastasia Shevchenko crossed the line in 21:52.5.

She was trailed by Romanian Eniko Marton, who finished 31 seconds slower, while Latvia's Sanita Bulina won the bronze medal as she came in 38.9 seconds slower.

An unprecedented clean sweep occurred in the junior men's 10km pursuit as Czech Republic athletes occupied all three places on the podium.

Tomas Mikyska finished the course in 27:56.1 with countrymen Jonas Marecek and Vitezslav Hornig claiming the silver and bronze medals respectively.
