Badminton is to make its Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020 ©BWF

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has launched a fan-engagement campaign in advance of the badminton competition at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics - "#RaiseARacket".

Badminton is on the Paralympic programme for the first time this year.

To celebrate, the BWF is encouraging fans to use the hashtag on social media.

Home videos of people raising their own badminton rackets and cheering on their favourite players are also encouraged.

A video promoting the campaign shows various soon-to-be Paralympians in action, as a narrator outlines how long they have waited for he Games.


The badminton competition at Tokyo 2020 begins on Wednesday (September 1).

Fourteen gold medals will be on offer, across men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles classes.

Finals are due to be played on September 4 and 5.
