The soon to be Baylor University student Keyonte George led the scoring in the men's tournament with 18 points from two games and was instrumental as the United States pushed past Estonia and Slovenia.

The Estonians put up a respectable fight but were not quite strong enough, losing 21-17, while Slovenia were no match for the Americans as they fell to a 21-13 loss.

Lithuania's men also won two from two to open their account in the tournament.

In the women's tournament, Iris Vennema led a well-rounded Dutch team to a 2-0 start in Debrecen as the seventh seeds bested Romania 14-13 in overtime and comfortably overcame top seeds Egypt, in a 16-8 win to round out their day’s action.

The Netherlands trail Spain in the group standings at this stage on points average after the Iberians beat Ukraine 17-12 and Romania 16-14.

Germany exuded dominance as it swept aside Latvia 16-11 and then annihilated Indonesia 19-4 to top Pool C.

While Latvia will be disappointed not to win both of its opening games, shooting guard Enija Ķīvīte played brilliantly.

She scored 10 points to fire her nation to a 19-12 triumph over Israel and then scored another four in the loss to Germany.

Without the 17-year-old's shooting accuracy, Latvia would be far worse off.

Tomorrow Pool A and Pool C will be decided in the men's tournament.

Kazakhstan and Brazil will go head-to-head in Pool A with the victor claiming the last qualifying spot in the group.

In the women's tournament, Estonia and Hungary play the final match of Pool D to decide which team will take pole position.

Meanwhile, each team in Pool B are scheduled to play their remaining games in a blockbuster day of 3x3 basketball.
