France’s Zelie Jacoulet and Fleur Vaucoret were the victors in heat two and were joined in the final by the pair from Chile, Magdalena Rojas and Antonia Heise.

Italy and France won their respective heats in the women's four, booking their spots in the final.

The US took second in heat one behind France and in front of Romania, and Italy were joined in the final in heat two by Germany.

In the men's four, Greece and Spain were the only automatic qualifiers to the final having won the first and second races respectively.

Romania and Denmark were behind the Greeks in heat one, and Italy and Switzerland were second and third in the other race, as repechage races are to take place to determine the A and B finalists.

A similar format took place in the women's quadruple sculls, with Germany and Switzerland winning their heats to progress to the final.

Canada, the Czech Republic and Italy posted the fastest times outside of the winners, setting themselves up well for the repechage.

Finally in the men's eight, Germany claimed victory in heat one in front of Belarus, as both nations progressed to the final.

The US won the second heat in front of Russia, to complete the automatic qualifiers for the final.
