Fans attending England's Euro 2020 group stage matches at Wembley Stadium will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test before entry, according to European football's governing body UEFA.

UEFA revealed that those based in the United Kingdom aged 11 or over can show proof of full vaccination, assuming both doses were received at least 14 days before the match.

Those not fully vaccinated must show proof of a negative lateral flow test taken within 48 hours of attendance.

Approximately 46 per cent of people over the age of 18 in England have been fully vaccinated.

The first of these matches at Wembley is due to be on Sunday (June 13) when England face Croatia in the Group D opener.

This ruling will not apply in Scotland for fans attending Hampden Park in Glasgow - who will not need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.

Fans who live in England attending games at Wembley can show their status through the NHS app.

London and Glasgow are two of 11 host cities for the competition, which is the first to be spread across Europe.

The others are Rome, Munich, Baku, St Petersburg, Budapest, Seville, Bucharest, Amsterdam and Copenhagen.

Dublin and Bilbao were recently removed as hosts after regional and national Governments could not guarantee spectators could attend their respective matches.

Wembley is set to host 22,500 fans - 25 per cent of its capacity - for its Group D fixtures against Croatia, Scotland and Czech Republic.

It will later host a last 16 match as well as both semi-finals and the final.

Munich's Allianz Arena has also approved the attendance of 14,500 fans, opening at 20 per cent capacity.

The Allianz Arena is set to host all three of Germany's Group F matches, as well as quarter-final tie.

Euro 2020 is scheduled to start on Friday (June 11) when Italy take on Turkey at Rome's Stadio Olimpico in Group A.

The final is set to take place in London on July 11.
