World Para Snow Sports has announced a sponsorship and supply agreement with Ecoaims - a Finnish provider of shooting equipment for visually-impaired biathlon.

The company has agreed to equip World Para Snow Sports Championships with fully automatic ranges, and also assist in referee training and sports development until 2024.

Ecoaims has been a long-time partner of World Para Nordic Skiing, with its blind shooting systems used at every Winter Paralympics since Salt Lake City 2002.

Next year's World Para Snow Sports Championships in Lillehammer in Norway will benefit from the deal, as will the 2023 edition in Östersund in Sweden and the 2024 event which has yet to be allocated a host.

The automatic ranges will make it easier to display results in real time, helping media outlets and live streamers.

Ecoaims has also agreed to send four biathlon shooting systems - two for vision impaired athletes and two for athletes with physical impairments - to countries that have not yet competed at international events.

A rotation system will allow as many athletes as possible to train and compete using the systems.

"We are extremely happy to share the good news with our sport community as the partnership with Ecoaims represents an important step in the development of Para-biathlon," said World Para Sports managing director Christian Holtz.

"While it benefits our high-performance athletes at major championships, the agreement will also provide a great support to development projects and initiatives to bring more athletes and countries to Para-biathlon."

Marko Kurvinen, the chief executive of Ecoaims, added: "It has been a pleasure working with World Para Nordic Skiing so closely over the past two decades.

"Now we look forward to new opportunities this agreement will bring for both Ecoaims and the sport in the coming years."
