Vincent Kriechmayr earned his first victory of the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Skiing World Cup season after winning the super-G race in Kitzbühel.

The Austrian made use of his home advantage to top the podium with a time of 1min 12.58sec.

Compatriot Matthias Mayer was third in 1:13.13, while Switzerland's Marco Odermatt finished in between the two in 1:12.70.

Mayer pulled off the rare feat of achieving three podium finishes in one World Cup event, having placed second and third in two of the downhill races.

The super-G race was pushed back to today to accommodate the rescheduled downhill yesterday.

With Aleksander Aamodt Kilde of Norway and Switzerland's Mauro Caviezel both suffering season-ending injuries in training sessions, the overall super-G World Cup standings are now wide open.

Kriechmayr is top of the standings on 241 points, with Caviezel and Kilde still in the top three with 225 and 172, respectively.

Mayer and Odermatt are threatening in fourth and fifth.

The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup is set to remain in Austria with a giant slalom race in Schladming tomorrow.

Alexis Pinturault will be aiming to extend his lead in the overall World Cup standings.

The Frenchman is top with 800 points and is followed by Odermatt on 607 and Kilde on 560.
