The Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM) held a virtual meeting for athletes who have been awarded a scholarship to compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Technical directors of national governing bodies and the 21 athletes with a scholarship were in attendance at the meeting.

This included athletes from athletics, boxing, fencing, golf, judo, surfing, taekwondo and triathlon.

During the event, the conditions of access and the terms of allocation of the various scholarships granted by the CNOM were presented.

Such scholarships are from Olympic Solidarity, the Association of National Olympic Committees and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa.

The CNOM also reiterated its commitment to athletes and national federations preparing for Tokyo 2020, especially against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, and answered questions from participants.

Tokyo 2020 was postponed due to the global health crisis, with the Olympics now scheduled for July 23 to August 8.

It will be Morocco's 15th appearance at the Summer Olympic Games since Rome 1960.

In total, the country has earned six gold Olympic medals, five silver and 12 bronze.

Morocco claimed one bronze at Rio 2016 after Mohammed Rabii finished third in the men's welterweight boxing contest.
