American Nelly Korda extended her lead at the ANA Inspiration in Rancho Mirage by two shots are a blemish-free second round.

The world number three had been leading by one shot after the opening day of competition, taking place at Mission Hills Country Club in the Californian city.

She now leads on -11 after recording a five-under-par 67, making five birdies and remaining bogey free.

"I've been hitting it really good off the tee," Korda said, as reported by Sky Sports

"Even off the fairway, I mean, I'm not missing it by much.

"Because it's so grainy out here, you catch it a little fat or you don't catch it so clean, but honestly I've just been playing really solid golf."

The 22-year-old is aiming for her first major title.

South Korea's Lee Mi-rim birdied three of the last five holes to return a 65 and is two shots off the lead.

Lexi Thompson of the United States and Denmark's Nanna Koerstz Madsen are seven under par and in a tie for third place.

The ANA Inspiration, part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour and delayed from its usual April date due to the coronavirus pandemic, is set to continue tomorrow.

It is the second women's major of the year.

Several high-profile players, including reigning champion and world number one Ko Jin-young of South Korea, chose not to play because of coronavirus concerns.
