Alibaba Cloud has announced that it will partner with the Paris 2024 Olympics' "Club Paris 2024" initiative to provide digital assistance for the Games' campaign.

Each month until the Games in 2024, members of the club scheme will have the chance to take part in fun challenges and meet Olympic and Paralympic champions.

The French public has been encouraged to subscribe to Club Paris 2024 by submitting their email address on the official website of the Games.

Paris 2024 has promised subscribers will have the opportunity to secure privileges in the build-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games, including the potential to carry the Olympic Flame.

"Our ambition is to offer to everyone the opportunity to engage by our side and to fully live the experience," said Paris 2024 engagement director Romain Lachens.

"We are pleased to work with Alibaba Cloud on this mission, and by leveraging its cloud computing and digital transformation expertise, we can give anyone a unique experience as part of their own Paris 2024 journey."

Alibaba Cloud has been supporting Paris 2024's digital infrastructure since the organisation's inception, including hosting its official website, as a Worldwide Olympic Partner and official cloud service provider.

Chris Tung, Alibaba Group chief marketing officer, said: "As a World Olympic Partner since Pyeongchang 2018, we have been working closely with the IOC and local Organising Committees to create more inclusive and next-generation Olympics, starting from Tokyo 2020 to Beijing 2022, Paris 2024 and beyond.

"We are confident that our cloud technology and e-commerce innovations can help contribute to taking the Games to new levels."

Subscribers could have the chance to go behind the scenes of Paris 2024 and become part of the volunteering team for the Games.

The opportunity to win entry into the mass-participation marathon, which will offer members of the public the chance to run the same course on the same day as the Olympic athletes, has also been highlighted by Paris 2024.

The first initiative aimed at subscribers is a series of eight challenges with world-class French athletes.

Subscribers have been able to challenge French basketball star Tony Parker, with the four-time National Basketball Association All-Star and EuroBasket champion set to participate in a 3x3 basketball event today in Paris.

Paris 2024 has selected 80 participants who will challenge Parker and his team.

Matches are due to last for five minutes, with the first team to reach 10 points winning the contest.

The location has not been announced to reduce the risk of crowds appearing.

Olympic decathlon silver medallist Kévin Mayer, London 2012 pole vault champion Renaud Lavillenie and five-time Olympic biathlon gold medallist Martin Fourcade are among the athletes also expected to participate in challenges.
