Anne_DunhamSeptember 3 – Britain continued their dominance in dressage as their first all-female quintet scooped team gold at the FEI European Para Equestrian Dressage Championship at Moorsele in Belgium as well as five of the 15 available medals in the individual test.

A total of 77 competitors from 17 countries were represented at Moorsele at the event while Anne Dunham (pictured), Britain's most experienced rider having competed at four Paralympic Games, being the standout performer as she claimed two gold medals.

Natasha Baker, 21, also showed her potential for London 2012 as she took gold in Grade II although Rio 2016 could be a more realistic prospect for her.

Amanda Bond, the chief executive of British Dressage, admitted she was delighted with the performance and that it bodes well of the Para-Equestrian dressage event at London 2012 which will take place at Greenwich Park.

"It's been a thrilling year for Great Britain to have achieved the success that we have in both Dressage and Para-Equestrian dressage," said Bond.

"We have exceeded all expectations and now have to focus on getting ready for 2012, both in terms of preparing our athletes and also preparing to host the world's best equestrians."

The event in Belgium also saw a strong performance from Denmark as picked up three silver medals in the competition to prove that they could be a potential threat to Britain in London next year.

Germany a gold silver and a bronze at the event with Hannelore Brenner taking victory in the World in Grade III, Britta Napels picking up second place in the Grade II and the team taking the third sport.

Britain though, will go away as the happiest team and their performance was all the more impressive given that they went to the event without the services arguable their top top performance as nine-time Paralympic gold medallist Lee Pearson and Beijing 2008 Paralympic silver medallist Ricky Balshaw who were missing because of injuries.
