Italy’s world super-G champion Dominik Paris secured his second downhill triumph in the space of two days on the Stelvio course at the International Ski Federation Alpine Skiing World Cup stop in Bormio.

Paris, who had won the previous day’s downhill - re-scheduled after heavy snow had forced the cancellation of last Saturday’s (December 21) race at Val Gardena – produced another superb performance on a course where he has now won four consecutive downhills.

On a day that was sunnier than the previous one, providing harder going, he finished in 1min 55.37sec, 0.08sec ahead of Swiss youngster Urs Kryenbühl, who improved significantly on his previous day’s career-best finish of 13th place.

Kryenbuehl’s senior compatriot Beat Feuz, second yesterday, was third, 0.26 behind Paris to earn his fourth consecutive downhill podium finish this season despite a recent hand injury.

Today’s victory took Paris, who already headed the overall downhill rankings, into the lead in the overall World Cup standings.

Tomorrow he will compete in the Alpine combined, which offers him another chance to score some important points.
