Allianz has been confirmed as the title sponsor of the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.

The competition is due to take place from September 9 to 15 at London Aquatics Centre, located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

It follows Allianz's successful title sponsorship of last year's European Championships in Dublin.

Around 600 swimmers from 60 nations are set to take part in London 2019, a qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

"We are delighted to have Allianz for the first time as the title sponsor of the World Championships," Tracy Glassford, World Para Swimming's senior manager, said.

"Allianz has a long history of support to Para swimming and Para sport events.

"With their support, and together with the London 2019 Organising Committee and their partners, we will deliver an historic event at one of the most iconic swimming pools in the world."

Jon Dye, chief executive of Allianz Insurance, added: "We’re proud to be partnering with this exciting event and wish all of the athletes involved the best of luck.

"As a business we’re committed to promoting inclusion, diversity and excellence, a vision which is shared with the Paralympic Movement."

This will be the ninth edition of the World Para Swimming Championships and the second time the event has been staged in Britain following the 2015 edition in Glasgow.

London stepped in as hosts in April after Malaysia had been stripped of the rights.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced in January that it would look for a new host.

It followed the Malaysian Government declaring that Israeli athletes would not be welcome.

Malaysia, a strongly Muslim nation, does not have diplomatic relations with Israel due to what they see as Israel's poor treatment of Palestinians.

As a result of the Malaysian Government’s stance, the IPC announced the country would no longer host the event, saying "all World Championships must be open".

The event had initially been scheduled to be held from July 29 to August 4 in Kuching.
