Paralympic gold medallists Turkey bounced back from defeat to Rio 2016 silver medallists Russia as they thrashed Israel in the women's tournament at the International Blind Sports Federation Goalball World Championships in Malmo.

Turkey were in ruthless form as they dispatched Israel 11-3 in the Pool C encounter as the tournament continued in the Swedish city.

The result saw them recover from their loss to Russia as they seek to earn a place in the knock-out round of the event at the Baltiska Hallen venue.

In the other match in Pool C, Australia eased to a 5-1 victory over hosts Sweden.

Defending champions Brazil built on their narrow win against Germany yesterday with a 9-5 triumph against Japan in Pool B.

Germany shrugged off the defeat to Brazil as they cruised to an 11-1 victory against Egypt.

The United States, silver medallists at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, are also in Pool B and claimed an 8-3 success in their clash with the Czech Republic.

Paralympic gold medallists Lithuania were another team in superb scoring form as they beat Australia 18-8 in Pool A.

China also picked up a victory by defeating Argentina 10-2.

The event in Malmo continues tomorrow with the penultimate day of group stage matches.
