The 16-year-old from Buchanan, Michigan, was overall winner of the FISE title last year at this event - which has gained additional intensity since being added to the Olympic programme for Tokyo 2020.

Roberts, who had also won the previous day's semi-final at the former Municipal Baseball Stadium - a short walk from the Peace Memorial Park - proved unbeatable again as she finished with a score of 84.70 points.

Her compatriot Angie Marino was second with 81.60, coming out ahead of Germany's 18-year-old Lara Lessman, who totalled 80.80.

Australia's Brandon Loupos, from Sydney, won the men's event with 92.10 points, in front of Kenneth Tencio of Costa Rica, who totalled 88.80, and last year's overall champion Daniel Dhers of Venezuela, who recorded 88.20.

The Japanese city has been hosting the second of this year's World Series legs - an umbrella event involving sports such as BMX, skateboarding, roller freestyle, bouldering and parkour - following last month's launch event in Jeddah.

The BMX flatland event has been particularly popular in Japan for the last 20 years, so the UCI BMX Flatland World Cup drew marked attention, and home fans were rewarded by excellent performances from the three Japanese women who filled the top three places.

Katagiri Misari finished first with 81.00 points, over Eriko Ono, who scored 76.00, and Eri Funatsu, who totalled 71.00.

France's 28-year-old Mathias Dandois won the men’s event with 90.33 points, beating Spain's 37-year-old Jorge Gomez, who totalled 89.13, and 40-year-old Alex Jumelin of France, who recorded 86.50.

In the women's International Federation of Sport Climbing Bouldering Series, France's Clementine Kaiser, one of only two non-Japanese women in the field, was victorious, totalling 100.00 points.

Natsuki Tanii and Kotake Mei took second and third place with 99.00 and 98.00 respectively.

Home climbers filled the top three places in the men's event, with 18-year-old Meichi Narasaki scoring 100.00 and his 17-year-old compatriots Shutu Tanaka and Keita Dohi scoring 99.00 and 98.00 respectively.

Belgium's Nicolas Collin was fourth with 97.00, one place in front of France's Clement Ozun.

There was another home triumph in the World Skate Roller Freestyle Park event, where the women's title went to Azuma Chihiro, who finished on 75.00 points, two more  than compatriot Katayama Misaki.

France's Manon Derrien was third on 71.00.

Britain's Joe Atkinson, from London, held off the challenge of local hero Yasutoko Takeshi to win the men's roller freestyle park event with 87.75 points, with the Japanese competitor totalling 85.00 in front of France's Julien Cudot - the winner in Jeddah - who was third with 84.25.

Pavels Petkuns of Latvia took the men's freestyle title in what was the first running of the International Gymnastics Federation's Parkour World Cup.

Waldemar Mueller of Germany and Kamil Tobiasz of Poland filled the next two places.

In the women's Speed Run World Cup final, Saskia Neville of The Netherlands was victorious in 22.08sec, beating home athlete Hikari Izumi, who recorded 22.54 and Ukraine's Anna Griukach, on 24.05.
