Elista's preparations for this year's World University Boxing Championship have been praised after a delegation visited the Russian city.

The International University Sports Federation's (FISU) inspection group, headed by World University Championships director Paulo Ferreira, arrived to assess readiness before the event is held between September 1 and 6.

Ferreira was joined by the executive director of the Russian Student Sports Union Dmitry Kiselev and the FISU Boxing technical delegate, Eduard Abdulmanov.

They visited the Oirat Arena venue and were left impressed by what they saw, with the trip following a visit from FISU President Oleg Matytsin.

"There is everything we need here," said Ferreira.

"The Organising Committee is ready, it works quite actively.

"I have every reason to believe that the competitions scheduled for this September will be successful and held at a top international event.

"I am very much looking forward to this tournament."

Twenty-five countries are expected to compete at the World Championships in September.

The Russian Boxing Students Championship, being held in Elista in March, will allow organisers to test preparations.

"We are grateful to FISU for the decision to hold the World Boxing Championship among students in Russia," said Alexie Orlov, the head of Russia's Kalmykia Republic.

"We are grateful to the Russian Student Sports Union that they chose Elista.

"We will not let you down."
