Rio 2016 Paralympic silver medallist Geert Schipper will be hoping to round off a sensational campaign on home soil at the International Triathlon Union World Para-triathlon Championships in Rotterdam tomorrow.

More than 160 Para-triathletes will take the stage in the Dutch city with 12 world titles on offer.

Schipper will be hoping to complete an excellent season, that includes stage wins in both Yokohama and Edmonton in the men’s PTWC event.

He faces tough competition from his compatriot and Rio 2016 champion Jetze Plat, who also won the Gold Coast leg of the competition and the 2017 European Championships title.

Seven athletes will be competing for the world title in the women’s PTWC class, with Australian Emily Tapp, Spain's Eva Maria Moral Pedrero and Great Britain's Jade Jones all favourites to secure a podium finish.

Tapp emerged victorious in both Edmonton and Gold Coast, as well as the Magog World Cup, while Moral prevailed at the Altafulla World Cup and the European Championships.

The United States dominate the women’s PTS2 class, with Rio 2016 champion Allysa Seely and Hailey Danz, silver medallist in the Brazilian city, among the favourites.

Seeley won the first two World Para-triathlon races of the season in Gold Coast and Yokohama but then suffered an injury.

Danz, meanwhile, won the US National Championships title.

American Aaron Scheidies has won every single race he has participated in since 2016 in the men's PTVI class, including the World Championships and Edmonton 2017 World Para-triathlon Series stage.

But he faces a difficult fight against Spaniard Hector Catala, who won the Altafulla World Cup and Soria Duathlon European Championships gold medals this campaign.

Local favourite Daniel Kegt is also expected to challenge for a podium place.
