Canada claimed three impressive wins in Pool C ©World Rugby

Australia, Canada and New Zealand reached the quarter-finals of the Women's World Rugby Sevens Series in Japan after winning all three of their pool match today.

Olympic champions Australia eased through Pool B at the Mikuni World Stadium in Kitakyushu, beating Brazil by a 38-0 scoreline and then thrashing Ireland 36-0.

The ensured pole position at the top of the standings by edging Fiji 17-12 in their closing match of the day, with Fijian-born Ellia Green scoring two tries to help her team to victory.

New Zealand, who triumphed in Dubai and Las Vegas, were also forced to battle for a victory in their Pool A clash with France.

A closely fought contest would eventually end with a 19-14 victory for New Zealand, which added to their 31-0 win over hosts Japan in their opening match.

New Zealand remained unbeaten by beating Russia 22-7, securing top spot in the pool in the process.

Canada topped the Pool C standings by beating both England and Spain by a 29-12 scoreline, as well as overcoming Spain 43-5.

The first quarter-final contested tomorrow will see Australia take on France, before Canada meet Russia for a place in the last four.

Fiji will then face the United States, while New Zealand will round off the quarter-finals when they clash with England.

The first ever series event in Japan will draw to a close tomorrow.
