The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) signed a deal with the Indonesian Asian Games Organising Committee and Ssangyong Information and Communications Corp in 2018 co-host Jakarta.

The agreement declares that Ssangyong will build the Asian Games Information System (AGIS) for the 18th edition of the event, which is to be held in both Jakarta and Palembang in 2018.

The service will host vital information for spectators, organisers and the media.

Content will include the competition schedule, venues, results, new records, athlete profiles, transportation and other critical data, which is vital for the smooth operation of a major international multi-sport event.

"Cooperation between the OCA and Ssangyong is one of the requirements to make the 18th Asian Games Jakarta-Palembang 2018 a big success," said Anton Subowo, on behalf of the Organising Committee.

"We are confident that, with this cooperation, the 2018 Asian Games will be managed by experienced people."

SSsangyong was established in 1981 as the first system integration company in South Korea.

Its experience of working in major sporting projects includes the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, the 2006 Doha Asian Games, the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and the 2011 Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan.

"We welcome the cooperation with INASGOC to support a successful Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games 2018," added Ssangyong chief executive Seung-Gi Kim.

"We guarantee that the information system we will provide for the 2018 Asian Games will be equal, if not better, than that for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon because we will apply the latest technology."

The 18th Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2, 2018 with 10,000 athletes and 5,000 team officials from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees expected to attend.
