Jeremy Lade and Matt Scott are among a group of 26 athletes who are targeting a place in the men’s team for the Games, having previously competed at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

The pair will hope to impress as they aim for a fourth consecutive appearance at the Paralympic Games, with their last outing seeing them help the US to a bronze medal.

Michael Paye, Steve Serio, Joshua Turek and Will Waller are also looking to book a place in the team for their third Games and will be eager to impress at the first camp, scheduled to take place at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs from January 3 to 6.

Members of the United States'  gold medal winning team at the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games are also in contention for the squad, including Nate Hinze, Trevon Jenifer, Jermell Pennie, Jared Arambula, Brian Bell, John Gilbert, Ryan Neiswender and Aaron Gouge.

Across the four-day camp athletes will take part in two sessions per day under the watchful eye of the team’s head coach Ron Lykins, who guided the women’s team to gold at Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

The American women’s team were also crowned Parapan American Games champions this summer and 11 members of the squad are vying for places in the Paralympic team, with their first camp due to be held from January 4 to 6 at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham.

Two-time Paralympic gold medallists Christina Schwab and Jenn Ruddell are among those looking to secure a place in the team, alongside Becca Murray and Natalie Schneider, who were members of their triumphant team at Beijing 2008.

Women’s head coach Stephanie Wheeler is due to oversee the camp, which will feature three sessions a day, as the build-up to the Games continues.

A final selection of 12 athletes, for both the men’s and women’s teams, will be decided in June following further evaluation camps and friendly competitions.
