The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus (NOC RB) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries.

ROC secretary general Anastasia Davydova met with her counterpart Anatol Kotau at the NOC RB headquarters in Minsk to sign the MoC, which they hope will be mutually beneficial to both National Olympic Committees (NOC).

Davydova reflected after the meeting that the ROC would share their expertise of hosting major sporting events.

“Our cooperation is amicable; we will try to develop it in different direction,” she said.

“Our Olympic Committee has a huge experience in the organisation of large scale competitions such as the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games and the FINA World Championship in Kazan.

“We will be glad to share our experience, especially during the organization of the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival in Minsk.”

One of the large scale events the NOC RB will have to prepare for is the 45th European Olympic Committees (EOC) General Assembly, with the event awarded to Minsk last month.

The Assembly will also coincide with the 25th anniversary of the NOC, established in 1991 following the break-up of the Soviet Union.

To mark the occasion, Davydova delivered a masterclass session for athletes and coaches of the Belarus national team, while members of the Specialized Children and Youth Sports School of the Olympic Reserve also took part.

Held at the sports and fitness complex “Olimpijskij”, the Olympic hopefuls benefited from the Russian's knowledge and experience.

The masterclass held as part of an initiative by NOC RB Belarus Women and Sport chief Liubov Cherkashina and her secretary Ksenia Sankovich.
